NASEM Nutrient Requirement Reports

The animal nutrient requirement reports historically published through the National Research Council (NRC) remain foundational references for animal nutrition research, teaching, and practice. Today, this work is presented through the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), while “NRC reports” remains the familiar terminology used by many animal nutrition professionals.

Following NASEM’s 2025 program reorganization, animal nutrition-related activities are now aligned with the Food, Nutrition, and Agriculture Program Area within the Center for Health, People, and Places. This program area addresses nutrition, food, and agricultural production and stewardship for both humans and animals.

The Food, Nutrition, and Agriculture Program Area is led by Robin Schoen, who also serves as a NANP Administrative Advisor. NANP values this connection as part of its continuing role in supporting data, modeling, and scientific resources for future animal nutrition consensus activities.
